1.John 5,7
by Hellrider inhas anyone tried discussing this one here before?.
1 john 5,6 - 8: jesus christ is the one who came by water and blood not by the water only, but by the water and the blood.
and the spirit is the one who testifies, because the spirit is the truth.

I have just left the org. after 26 years. I would like to make the point that the reason it is hard to leave the org. is because there have been good and faithful slaves mixed with the "evil" slave. For instance, Russell did not want an organization that is ordering you what to believe and how to dress, etc. He was given truths from the bible that the other religions honestly don't have. Such as that Jesus isn't God, no hellfire, no immortality of the soul, no priests, no man to be called father, the ransom, the paradise earth, kingdom being a government, etc. The other religions are really in darkness as to doctrinal issues. So in comparison, JW's seems to be the true religion. Also I believe Ray Franz and some of the others that got disfellowshipped were faithful slaves. But with the wheat growing in among the weeds, it's hard for your wife to understand that the org. is evil now. Like this scripture...
Math. 24:48 But if ever that evil slave should say in his heart, My master is delaying, and should start to beat his fellow slaves and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards, the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know. etc.

2 elders came for a visit
by Goldminer inat first i wasn't going to post this but i noticed a lot of people here have been getting visits from elders lately, all with pretty much the same results.. three months ago,my wife asked an elder if he could answer some of my questions.he offered to come over, which he did,to waste my time talking in circles to basic questions he couldn't answer from the bible.(i.e.
where does the bible say god has an organization and uses a governing body to direct it?
) anyways, after 3 hours of proving his allegiance tot the wts and showing me his level of denial he said he would do more research on my questions and get back to me.one main question that night had been 607 bce.. last week he made arrangements with my wife to return with another elder.that day i decided, based on advice i got here, that i would not use any research notes, only the bible as final authority(unless we got into 607 since you need secular history to support dates).the discussion started on god's organization, and being that i'm not very good at these type of debates,it basically went in circles with one elder getting upset that i didn't believe that god has a visible organization.he kept asking me well, which religion has the truth then?

Maybe you could approach your wife with the angle that the organization does have truths that no other religion comes close but like all good things, man corrupts it because of their need for power. What do you think???

, Dear Narkissos, thanks for the welcome.
I looked up all the scriptures you presented...Here's a rundown of thoughts...I Cor. 14:45..is talking about when Jesus went to heaven to sit at God's right hand. II Cor. 3:17 is talking about Jesus as being a life giving spirt in heaven @ the time of the writing. Gal. 4:6 talks of God sending for the spirit of his son..Does Jesus have a holy spirit too? Perhaps....I Pet. 3:18 talks of Jesus being made alive in the spirit...could that be when he recieved God's spirit at his baptism? Actually I'm thinking of the 2nd coming, not actually these instances.
Also you mentioned the account of Jesus receiving the kingdom in Dan. 7. It's says he is taken up and gained access to the Ancient of Days and became near to him.. Symbolic talk to be sure. I'm sure he could still be a man at the time of his receiving the kingdom as Moses gained access to God when he received the law. I believe he saw God's glory in a sense. What do you think friends?

Thanks for your feedback, guys. I think the clouds could represent is identity being obscurred. And on the clouds of Heaven, meaning from a high and lofty place, (his ideals and principles). And every eye seeing him could mean he would be a famous person, worldwide. I looked up 'son of man' in the insite book and it talks about that as being an earthly man born of a human man. It all adds up to me. Any comments??/ Thanks for the 2 comments.

Hope you don't mind if I share a couple of points of why I think Jesus is returning as human. (Just my thoughts)
1. He's called son of man...not of God
2. His quest "to break kings to pieces, to execute judgement among nations, to break to pieces the head one over a populous land" How can a spirit man execute judgement?
3. Rev.16:14 Jesus will battle with the kings of the earth @ Armaggedon. How can a spirit man battle?
4. Is. 11 "He must strike the earth with the rod of his mouth and with the spirit of his lips he will put the wicked one to death."
How can a spirit talk for all to hear?
5. Man in linen in Is. 9 and Dan. 12 is separating people with a secretaries ink horn. Again a man...and with a writing tool...Jesus is one who is separating, right? Couldn't he be this man?
6. Jer. 4:5 Jesus will appear as a signal to the nations, one that people would rally around. Heart of kings perish and heart of princes, priests driven to astonishment.
7. He'd come in a cloud, like a theif in the night. His identity would be obscured. He would be not detected by most.8. In Dan.7 he's taken up to gain access to God and given the kingdom as a "son of man". If he was already @ God's right hand, why the need to be taken up?
I think J.W.s would be the last people to recognize and accept him, as Jesus would be battling the governments and we know JW's think anyone who is not a witness are politically neutral and Jesus would be battling the governments. So just like the 1st coming of Christ he would not be accepted. Also because the WT says he's coming as a spirit their minds would totally reject this idea!! As we are not even allowed to entertain the idea of anything different from WT doctrine. -

Living proof: Elders are not spirit appointed
by IP_SEC inwitnesses say that elders are appointed by holy spirit.
the bible is the product of hs and when the body prays and uses the bibles qualifications for older men in the context of the perspective candidate hs is involved in his approval or disapproval.
then when the co passes the recommendation on the gb (or who ever actually makes the decision) these spirit appointed men are influenced by hs.. all well and good, the only problem is, it does not work.

hello, Thanks for that humble confession. I have been feeling I'm spirit anointed for 5 years now. 2 different brothers, in the back room, told me I wasn't. The one said, "I'm appointed by holy spirit". Like I was to believe I wasn't anointed because of that. Well, I appreciate your words...phileo, Star

Hi..David, I started asking questions about 1 year or so ago. Nobody had anything but blank stares..so I found alot different from the bible, especially about prophesies... so I left in Aug. I don't believe the same except for the basics...(no trinity, hellfire, God's name , etc. ) Best wishes.

NBC targets cults with brainwashing drama

By Kimberly Speight
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - NBC has given a script commitment to a one-hour drama centering on an expert in "deprogramming" people.
The tentatively titled "The Bogeyman" will center on a character who helps people who have been brainwashed.
Rick Ross, who works as a deprogrammer, is on board as a consultant. Ross, who has been in this line of work since 1982, said he has assisted thousands of families in his efforts to help the victims of brainwashing, which he points out includes such people as victims of cults posing as religious organizations, members of terrorist organizations and women abused by their husbands.
"For the first time, the world of cults and deprogramming and the plight of families victimized by cults and brainwashing along with the vulnerability of the human will be on view in a way it's never been before," Ross said. "The audience will have the opportunity to come into that world and experience it firsthand."
The script is from Erik Jendresen (HBO's "Band of Brothers"), who said the show will "have guts."
"We're staring this stuff right in the face and going to deal with very real organizations and groups," he said. "We're not shying away from any of this."
Will they include and feature the Watchtower cult?
